What was meant to be a night of celebration at the Eddy Kenzo carnival in Arua City took a dark turn as chaos ensued, leaving properties worth millions destroyed and three people tragically dead. The unrest broke out before the much-anticipated performance by the Ugandan superstar, with revellers expressing dissatisfaction over the event’s proceedings. The situation quickly escalated, resulting in widespread destruction and the unfortunate loss of lives during the scuffle.
In the aftermath of the incident, Skillah Andritah, a prominent female artist in the region’s music scene, expressed frustration with the Arua event’s promoters, accusing them of failing to meet promises made to the participating artists. Speaking out about the disappointing turn of events, Andritah said, “I have zero trust in Arua promoters. What happened yesterday clearly shows their failure.”
Thankfully, in contrast, the Eddy Kenzo show in Adjumani fared much better. Skillah Andritah praised Sympathy Promotions and Pat’s involvement in organizing the Adjumani event, which helped ease the burden on Ma’di artists. Many of these artists would have struggled to receive their final payments if not for the intervention, providing a stark difference between the two events.
The tragic events in Arua have left many questioning the competence of local promoters, as fans and the public alike mourn the loss of lives and damages incurred during what was supposed to be a joyful event.
